perpetually textured

because I wanted to have

because anything else
was not beautiful.

always messy
and I could not
spike it, shape it
like other people
because waves
and curls are
waves and curls

but now people like long, messy hair
and people with straight hair
want my waves and curls.

it doesn’t matter
because I like my hair
wild with waves like the sea.
